Innovations for human development

The IDEASS Programme is one of the working tools of the KIP International School. Set up in 2001 by ILO, UNDP, and UNOPS, the programme seeks to enhance the capacity of public and private territorial actors to meet the needs of the local population by using innovative working methods and tools that have been effectively used both at the national level and in other countries.

In order to reach this objective, IDEASS promotes innovative solutions which originate from the great creativity of people, public services, associations, companies, foundations, universities and specialized centers that operate worldwide and which have demonstrated their contribution to human development, the enhancement of environmental resources and the reduction of poverty and social exclusion.

The Program is inspired by the commitments of the international community to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 United Nations Agenda, and by the guidelines of the global thematic initiatives promoted by the United Nations and other international entities.

As remarked by Edgar Morin in his book The Way, published in 2011, in all countries there are already many experiences of change that are little known and valorized at international level. Morin suggests carrying out a specific work to promote and disseminate the innovative know how of these experiences. IDEASS collaborates in the framework of the KIP International School to reach this objective and the innovations promoted show the great patrimony of innovative knowledge for territorial and sustainable development existing worldwide. The IDEASS web site, which is visited in more than 190 countries, is an important instrument of the International School’s permanent cultural campaign.
